Design Inspired Ideas for Budget Conscious People
I am constantly looking for ways to better my home. As a stay at home mom that isn't always easy, especially since I don't have an unlimited (or very big) budget for doing all the things I would like to do. But I have found very creative ways to make things pretty and stay inside my budget at the same time. I hope you get some good ideas from reading my blog and maybe even share some of your own. Thank you for reading.

Disappointed!
I have had to delete most of my posts because ALL my pictures were deleted somehow. I took some time off from writing my blog due to life being busy and when I came back to write I realized that the pictures were all GONE! How disappointing! To make matters worse I didn't have a back up of most of them. So now most of my BEFORE pics are gone forever. Oh man!

Spring has sprung!
Tomorrow marks the first day of spring. It is also my 37th birthday. Tomorrow, I plan on taking the day off from all house work to celebrate. My mom is taking me to lunch and afterwards I will take my boy to the zoo. Fortunately, the weather has been absolutely beautiful this past week and I was able to get to work on my flower beds. It's amazing how much there is to do out there and I am not even finished painting the hallways and some of the crown molding! It's going to be a busy week. Happy Springtime everybody!

Having Zachy's bed redone this week!
Before |
I am super excited that Zachy’s bed is being refinished this weekend by a girl I met from Craigslist. I bought Emma’s bedroom furniture from her and while I was picking it up I noticed a wonderful bed she had built out of PALLETS! It was amazing and I just have to have one in my house now. She agreed to take Zachy’s bed and redo it using the rails and drawers. She is also making me some pallet shelves for that back wall. I am super excited to get it done and can’t wait to see the results. I will post pics as soon as I get the bed back. Check out her blog at Sweet Sweet Simplicity
UPDATE:
Got the pallet bed back on Sunday and after a few minor setbacks (my old bolts no longer fit and new ones were too big AND the old rail no longer fit) I finished assembling it today. I LOVE it! Leslie did an amazing job. While I love the bed I have to say these shelves are my FAVORITE! She sells these for only $30 each! Amazing! When I initially saw the pallet bed and shelves I was concerned that they were too dark but now that it is all together, it's just PERFECT. I do have a few minor things to fix, like the part of the rail I cut and the holes I had to bore out to make the bolts work but otherwise it's done and here are the pics to prove it!
After |
Notice that the top shelves have a ledge on the top for sitting his favorite things! |
I had to cut the rail but will be staining that part tomorrow! |
Notice the rope handles on the drawers. LOVE! |

I just fell in love!
I was just duncing around on Pinterest and came across this absolutely marvelous deck and sand box. I am in love! I wonder if this can be done with my existing deck. Guess I will be finding out very soon! lol
You can see a bigger picture at here.
It's one of those days!
I think I will stay in my p.j.'s all day. It's gloomy outside and I have nothing pressing to leave the house for. Yep, it's definitely a p.j. day!
